THE STORY

I had my good pal Andy Davie in the studio for some portfolio work. This man’s rig is carved from stone, so naturally I had the idea of turning him into an ancient Greek statue — flowers blooming and winding their way around his torso.
For me, this image is a meditation on creation, growth and resilience.
I’ve always loved the way flowers find their way through ruins and ancient structures — life growing from what was once broken, forgotten or left behind. It reminds me of how some of my greatest creations have come from the most challenging chapters of my life.
Perhaps that’s the strange beauty of making things: sometimes the most meaningful art is born from the places we thought would break us.
