THE STORY
MILOS, Greece
One of the most otherworldly places I’ve ever been.
Sarakiniko, on the island of Milos in Greece, feels like somewhere that shouldn’t exist on Earth.
The landscape is almost completely stripped back — vast white granite formations shaped by wind and water, surrounding pockets of impossibly blue sea.
Amongst all that stone, the water feels like an oasis.
We spent the day soaking in it, surrounded by this strange, lunar landscape that felt more like another planet than a Greek island.
There was something almost cinematic about the whole place. The kind of scene you imagine belongs in a film, rather than somewhere you could actually stumble upon.
Maybe that’s what I love most about travelling — those rare places that completely change your sense of where you are.
A little piece of Venus, hidden in the Aegean.
